  • Trust Honest Abe: “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” - Abraham Lincoln. If Uncle Abe took the time to sharpen his axe, you should too.
  • Angled Bamboo Base: Maintaining a consistent 15-degree angle on the blade is one of the toughest challenges for those new to sharpening. We came up with a clever solution: our new bamboo base is angled at 15 degrees so you can hold the blade nearly flat (parallel to the tabletop) and it will put a consistent bevel on your blade.
  • Choose Your Grit: Our complete kit comes with stones in 4 different grits so you can do everything from repairing chipped blades to honing your already-sharpened kitchen knife.
  • Flatten Your Stones: After continued use your stones will start to wear out and become uneven in some places, just like the path in your carpet from the front door to the couch. The included flattening stone smooths everything out to return your stones to perfect flatness.
  • Safety First: The non-slip rubber pad will keep your stones from moving around as you sharpen allowing you to focus on sharpening your blades without worrying about slicing through your finger.

  • HOW TO USE:

    1. Soak stone in water for 5-10 minutes. Place stone on the included non-slip rubber pad or damp cloth with the coarser side facing up.
    2. Hold the knife so that it’s flat and perpendicular to the stone with the blade pointing left. Tilt the knife at a 15-degree angle, then slowly stroke the edge of the blade from heel to tip down the full length of the stone.
    3. Flip the knife over and repeat step 2 on the opposite side of the blade.
    4. Switch to a stone with less grit (higher number) once you have achieved your desired sharpness, then repeat steps 2 and 3.
    5. Once you are done sharpening, use the leather strop to remove any lingering metal burrs from the edge of the blade. Carefully wash the blade with soap and water when done then dry to keep your blades in peak condition.

    Tips:

    • Maintaining the angle is a breeze thanks to our 15-degree angle guide, which attaches to your knife
    • Be patient and take your time while sharpening, it could take up to an hour depending on how dull or damaged your blade has become
    • If the stone starts to feel dry or you feel too much friction, add more water to the stone
